Apply for Unemployment Benefits
TWC recommends filing online rather than by phone. The best time to apply online is between 10 PM and 8 AM. If you have difficulties accessing the site or calling, try a direct message on Twitter via @TXWorkforce or emailing questions to laborinfo@TWC.state.tx.us.Job Seekers or Furloughed Workers:
- Apply as soon as you are out of work or furloughed but no sooner. TWC cannot process your request while you are still working.
- The online application takes seven minutes to complete. You will need your social security number and home address.
If you decide to apply by phone, TWC has designated times to call based on your area code.
Business Owners:
TWC offers two programs for business owners who have closed or are at risk of closing: mass claims and shared work programs. Additional benefits may be available for businesses providing childcare services.
