Matthew 28:19-20
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

In Luke 19, Jesus tells the parable of a wealthy landowner who gave a large amount of money to his servants to invest for him until he returned. One of the servants disappointed him by being fearful and hiding the investment without earning any interest. The other two servants were rewarded for their bold initiative and productivity. As the body of Christ, we want to use and multiply the resources God gives us to do His will and further the kingdom of God.

Second Baptist Church is a body of believers willing and eager to share what we have with others — from monetary gains, time, energy in service — to sharing the gospel. In sharing, serving and giving, we trust God to multiply our work beyond what is humanly possible.

Dear Church Family,

Houston is the fourth largest city in America, with a population approaching 2.5 million people. So, it should come as no surprise that it is a diverse city. In fact, 145 languages are spoken here. There is one language, however, we all understand – the language of love. That’s because love is the language of the heart, and as Christians, love should be the language in which we are most proficient.

Every October we celebrate Missions Month – that special time when we come alongside more than 70 ministry partners that faithfully and courageously help meet the physical and spiritual needs of thousands in our city. Not only do these partners speak the language of love, but they also model it by ministering day after day to those struggling with life’s challenges. They take seriously a verse we all should practice: “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress….” (James 1:27)

Please keep these ministries in your prayers and give generously to encourage them as they serve on the “front line” every day. They are doing a good work for our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s join them and “not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)

Rebuilding Together Houston

Rebuilding Together Houston repairs homes belonging to low income, elderly, physically disabled and/or US military veterans. Your gift will be used for ministry needs.

The Source for Women of Houston

The Source for Women offers a wide range of free reproductive health care services to women and their families from three locations: Spring Branch, Galleria and Northeast Houston. Your gift will be used for ministry needs.

Boys & Girls Country

Boys and Girls Country provides a home and loving care to children from families in crisis. Most of the 100 desktop workstations are 2008 models and are too old to upgrade to Windows 10. Your gift will help upgrade technology needs.

Camp Hope

Camp Hope provides interim housing for Wounded Warriors suffering from PTSD. Veterans and their immediate family members benefit from an intensive peer support and mentoring program, as well as a comprehensive PTSD recover program. Your gift will be used for ministry needs.

Free the Captives

Free the Captives is a faith-based organization fighting sex trafficking of girls ages 12-14 years in Houston. They provide rescued victims with support groups, mentoring, jobs, material assistance, and other direct services. Your gift will be used for ministry needs.

Open Door Mission

This faith and evidence-based recovery and rehabilitation program and facility is dedicated to transforming the lives of the most severely addicted, destitute, homeless and disabled men in our community. Their commercial kitchen feeds 300 hot meals per day. Your gift will help purchase a new convection steamer.

March
This team will serve in multiple ministry endeavors such as ESL classes, VBS, sports camps, and various evangelism efforts in the Sao Paolo region of Brazil.

This team will join a full orchestra conducted by Camp Kirkland to share the gospel through musical performances, workshops, and relationships in the capital city of Brasilia. Open to musicians with fours years of experience on their instrument. Musicians with teaching experience are a plus, but not required.

Colombia

June
This team will join with e3 Partners in a door-to-door church-planting effort in Cali. In addition to this work, a medical clinic is open to qualified medical professionals.

Honduras

June
This is a family friendly trip to serve in the schools and churches outside of Comayagua. This team will provide children's programming, VBS, games, and activities for students in the area.

South Sudan

July
This team will join with EveryVillage to encourage the people of South Sudan by spreading the gospel and partnering in community development.

Guatemala

July
This is a family friendly trip that will work in evangelism and church development in Antigua. This team will bring special filters to provide clean drinking water and the gospel to families in desperate need of both.

Latin America

July
This team will join with East-West Ministries to share the gospel with the unreached during home visits so that disciples and healthy churches are developed.

Latin America

OCTOBER
This is a family-friendly trip that will work in evangelism and church development in Latin America. This team will bring special filters to provide clean drinking water and the gospel to families in desperate need of both.
